Feedback and assessment
Assessment is the key to knowing whether the learner has met the level of performance set by the program. Assessment criteria should be developed for each activity according to the desired level of performance. In each learning outcome, key assessment criteria should be evident, which can be further elaborated in an assessment task. In designing feedback and assessment tasks emphasis should be placed upon strategies that help to develop student’s own capacity for self-assessment in learning. The design and implementation of an appropriate system for student assessment is a major challenge in the course revision process to address sustainability. The criteria and conditions by which performance will be assessed should be also explicitly stated. The identified learning goals/objectives and outcomes should be aligned with appropriate feedback and assessment procedures. Developing appropriate rubrics can be an effective means for ensuring fruitful feedback and assessment.
